At the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Cologne, national and international scientists conduct research in 60 different clinics, institutes and centers. They range from molecular medicine, cell culture and animal models to translational research and clinical application.

In order to successfully transfer findings from fundamental research into clinical application, physicians and scientists pool their knowledge and resources. The Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital intensively work together at different levels to consolidate the individual research areas and thus allow for the ongoing advancement of medical research. They guarantee that adequate resources are available for clinical studies and establishment of biobanks. The general orientation of the research areas and their progress are regularly evaluated by an external scientific advisory board.
