Science Slam 2026 – Apply now to be a slammer!
The Science Slam at the University of Cologne’s Faculty of Medicine is once again looking for slammers from all departments and career stages.
In just a few minutes, you can present your own research in a way that is understandable, creative, and entertaining.
Date: November 18, 2026 / starting at 6:00 p.m.
Location: Weisshaus Cinema
WHAT IS A SCIENCE SLAM?
A science slam is a stage-based format for science communication in which research topics are presented in a clear, vivid, and entertaining way in just a few minutes.
The audience evaluates the presentations and decides which one is the best.
The focus is on:
- Clarity of scientific content
- Creative ways of communicating
- Accessibility for a broad audience

PARTICIPATION PROCEDURE
1. Application
- Submission of a brief topic idea or working title.
2. Workshop (Group)
- Introduction to the Science Slam format, storytelling, and presentation techniques.
3. Individual Coaching
- Personalized preparation and refinement of content and style.
4. Science Slam
- Presentation of the entries to an audience as part of the event.
APPLICATION
Participation is open to researchers at the Faculty of Medicine—regardless of experience or career stage.
