White Coat Ceremony

The very first White Coat Ceremony took place at the University of Chicago in 1989. Since then, the White Coat Ceremony has found its way into many medical faculties - including Cologne in 2010 as the first German-speaking faculty. A turning point is solemnly marked here, the point in time marks the successful completion of the Physikum: the big moment has arrived, medical students symbolically receive their first white coat. This marks their entry into the clinical phase of their studies. Traditionally, this celebration, which all students work towards during the first four pre-clinical semesters, some of which are very challenging and strenuous, takes place in the large lecture hall of the anatomy department.

Congratulations on passing the Physikum!
