Sustainability Days 2026
The Sustainability Working Group of the University of Cologne’s Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with other stakeholders and sustainability initiatives, is organizing a two-day open-air event on the biomedical campus titled “Sustainability Days 2026.” The event will take place on September 9 and 10, 2026, and is aimed at employees of the University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine, researchers from affiliated research institutes, members of the university community, students, and guests from neighboring universities. Interested local residents are also cordially invited.
Through the Sustainability Days, we aim to showcase the diversity of sustainability initiatives on campus and in the region, promote exchange and networking, and provide information on important sustainability topics. The program features more than 20 initiatives and organizations, a panel discussion on climate change and health, an inspiring lecture on plastic pollution in the oceans, and hands-on workshops. The program is further enhanced by booths on campus covering various sustainability topics, an exhibition on healthy and sustainable nutrition in hospitals, and the opportunity to have bicycles and electronic devices repaired free of charge. Through encounters, dialogue, and exciting program highlights, we aim to raise awareness of the role of sustainability in healthcare, motivate active engagement, and strengthen our sense of community.
