The Vice Dean's Office for Academic Development and Equal Opportunities at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Cologne aims to promote academic development at all levels of development and to redress gender imbalances in the field of medical research and academic training.

The current focus is on promoting academic careers on the path to leadership positions and on developing and testing a best practice procedure for appointments that takes gender-sensitive factors into account.

Another focus is on improving the framework conditions for reconciling family and studies/work. The Vice Dean's Office is thus committed to the goal of achieving equal opportunities for women and men in working life, in line with the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
