DFG Academy: Transforming your idea into a DFG proposal in 6 month
Target group: PostDocs who intend to submit their first grant proposal to the DFG’s individual research grants program, the Walter-Benjamin Program or the Emmy-Noether Program within the next 6 month.
Goal: The goal of the DFG Academy is to submit a grant proposal to the DFG.
It is strongly recommended to take part in the orientation workshop “Funding Opportunities for PostDocs” on July 2, 10.30 am – 12.00 noon prior to registration. This workshop provides an overview of key funding programmes and helps identify the most suitable option.
Requirements for participation:
Abstract (max. 3.000 characters) on the planned project
Time and willingness to write and submit a DFG grant proposal within the next 6 month
Availability to attend all workshop sessions, read and provide constructive feedback on two peer proposals, and actively participate in a small peer feedback group
Workshop concept: The kick-off workshop introduces the DFG’s funding principles, proposal structure, evaluation criteria, and the review process. A full-day workshop with an experienced external trainer focuses on developing clear research objectives and a robust work plan. Four writing sessions will be dedicated to drafting the core sections of the proposal. The trainer will be available for individual questions and guidance throughout the writing process.
For the Peer-Feedback sessions you will be assigned in peer feedback groups (2-3 participants). The trainer will make sure that the group members will submit their proposal in a different DFG Review Board. During the Peer-feedback session, you will receive individual feedback on your grant proposal from two peers and the trainer.
Please note that the number of participants is limited. If there are more registrations than places, the places will be drawn by lot.
