Appointment committees are central to the strategic direction of the faculty and university. They are instrumental in determining which professors will shape teaching and research and the culture of leadership and collaboration for years and decades to come. Serving on appointment committees presents challenges to staff members - especially those contributing for the first time. It is important to understand the regulations and the basic structure of the commission work as well as to know important aspects for the implementation of equal opportunities, which at the same time promote the "best selection".

For this purpose, the Associate Dean's Office for Academic Development and Gender, with the support of the Faculty Appointment Management and in collaboration with MedizinFoto Köln, has developed an online training course "How to..." Appointment Committees: Principles, Processes, Equity prepared. It takes about 40 minutes and qualifies you for the important work in the appeal committee. It is also suitable for people who have contributed to appeals committees more frequently to refresh knowledge and get comprehensive information about aspects of equal opportunity once again.
