Federal Education and Training Assistance Act (BAföG)

"BAföG enables adolescents and young adults to complete an education that matches their aptitude and inclination - even if their parents are unable to finance this education."

Information on BAföG

The Federal Education and Training Assistance Act (BAföG) is a government grant designed to enable students who do not have sufficient financial resources to finance their studies. This is intended to create equal opportunities and enable access to higher education regardless of the family's financial situation.
BAföG consists of 50% grant and 50% interest-free loan. Students therefore only have to pay back part of the funding they receive at a later date, and this half of the loan to be repaid is also limited.
