As part of its faculty development program, the Faculty of Medicine offers its employees the opportunity to take part in medical didactics workshops in order to improve their teaching, i.e. to make teaching effective and efficient. Medical didactic training for teachers and corresponding faculty programs have been proven to be effective (e.g. Fabry et al., GMS Z Med Ausbild 2010; Steinert et al, Med Teach 2016). Our faculty offers a wide range of corresponding workshops, not least to meet the different needs. The contents and dates can be found in the program excerpt of the University Hospital Education Center (see below).

The training events can be used to obtain the medical didactics certificate from the Landesakademie für Medizinische Ausbildung (LAMA NRW e.V.) can be credited. The individual events as well as the LAMA certificate are available via the German Medical Didactics Network (MDN) of the Association of Medical Faculties and can be helpful in the event of career-related relocations. Thanks to the cooperation of the medical faculties in NRW within the framework of the "Teaching Innovation Cluster", you can attend medical didactics courses at different locations. Of course, our workshops count as medical didactic training courses as required for habilitation or adjunct professorships at our faculty.

We work closely with the University Didactics Center (ZHD) of the Faculty of Human Sciences at the University of Cologne. Please contact Prof. Dr. Jan Matthes or Dr. h.c. (RUS) Christoph Stosch in advance to find out which ZHD courses and which courses not explicitly marked as medical didactics courses in the program of the University Hospital Education Center are eligible for recognition.
