Department 5: Digital teaching management

The Department of Digital Teaching Management in the Office of the Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Medicine is an advisory and service point for students and staff with regard to teaching organization, e-learning and e-assessment. We will show you the possibilities offered by the systems at the University of Cologne and support you in the implementation of teaching.

The basic systems for digital teaching management at the Faculty of Medicine are

KLIPS 2.0

KLIPS 2.0 is an acronym and stands for Kölner Lehr-, Informations- und Prüfungsservice. It is the campus management system of the University of Cologne. KLIPS 2.0 contains the online course directory and supports course and examination management as well as the provision of services.

Students can register and deregister for courses and examinations online. Sample timetables as well as personal timetables and examination results can be viewed at any time. Certificates, such as enrolment, study progress or transcripts of records, no longer need to be applied for in person thanks to digital signatures and are available to students via self-service. Students can change their address independently in KLIPS 2.0. Furthermore, students can track their semester contribution status transparently at any time.

In addition to organizing events and examinations, KLIPS 2.0 also offers employees the option of requesting and booking rooms. Room allocation plans can be created and issued at the click of a mouse. Furthermore, employees can create a personal business card. Current courses are automatically integrated and personal details are displayed. Flexible mail functions allow employees to contact individual students or several students at the same time by circular mail. Course evaluations can be easily realized via KLIPS 2.0. A unidirectional interface to the e-learning platform ILIAS supports the provision of teaching materials.

If you have any questions about KLIPS, please contact the faculty's own KLIPS support team or use the online help.

ILIAS

ILIAS is also an acronym and stands for Integrated Learning, Information and Work Cooperation System. ILIAS is the e-learning platform of the University of Cologne, with the help of which teaching and learning materials are created, made available and exchanged. ILIAS also forms the basis for e-assessments, i.e. e-exams and self-assessment tests. Central institutions (such as the University and City Library or the Computer Center) provide various e-learning offers in ILIAS, such as online computer or research courses.

If you have any questions about ILIAS, please contact ILIAS support or use the online help.

UNI accounts (Uni-KIM)

A mandatory requirement for the use of university-wide systems such as KLIPS 2.0 and ILIAS is the activation of your own university account. Employees should activate their staff account and students should activate their student account in order to be able to use the systems.
