Transfer understanding of the Faculty of Medicine

Responsibility for progress

As a faculty of a publicly funded university, we are committed to our social responsibility. We combine research and teaching with the mission of using our knowledge for social, cultural and economic progress.

In doing so, we remain committed to the fundamental values of the University of Cologne: Academic excellence, integrity and social responsibility.

The transfer strategy provides an overview of the university's overall positioning. Transfer is seen as a central task of the University - alongside research and teaching. The transfer strategy classifies the variety of activities and recognizes the commitment of the scientists.

Research transfer: from bench to bedside

At the Faculty of Medicine - also in cooperation with other faculties, research institutions and universities - research is carried out into the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that are highly relevant to society. This results in new treatment options via translational processes, which flow into the treatment of patients. As a maximum care provider with its clinics and polyclinics, the University Hospital of Cologne is a key driver of these translational processes: People with complex clinical pictures are treated here using the latest technologies and methods.
