Research Area B: Proteostasis in Aging- associated Diseases
Project leaders: Prof. Dr. Thomas Benzing, Prof. Dr. Thorsten Hoppe
Key objectives of research area C are to investigate:
- regulators and ubiquitin-dependent degradation pathways that control age-related proteotoxicity and aging
- mechanisms that contribute to tissue-specificity of proteostasis networks
- the role of PQC pathways in intracellular organelles in stress and aging
- how defects in proteostasis cause protein aggregation, kidney defects, and neurodegeneration
