Who we are and what we do

1. what is the task of the working group?

In order to create sustainable awareness of the impact of human actions on the environment and health, we are committed to integrating sustainability and climate change as topics in teaching at the medical faculty. In order for future professionals to be able to act in a sustainable and climate-sensitive manner in their profession, we believe they should be empowered to do so (in their studies). Furthermore, the climate crisis increasingly presents us with challenges (for example, in disease prevention) for which future professionals should be prepared.

2. what are you currently working on?

At the moment, we are engaged in the expansion of internal advanced training on climate change at the university hospital and the medical faculty. The self-designed advanced training entitled "Climate change and health - from knowledge to action" will be offered for the first time on 05.10.2023 and, to our enthusiasm, was fully booked after a short time. Therefore, we would like to expand the offer in the coming year and plan to offer two training courses ourselves in the coming year, as well as to expand the training offer in the area of sustainability in exchange with external organizational developers.

3. what was achieved in the last year?

Under the leadership of the Institute of General Medicine, the Planetary Health Report Card was created for the Faculty of Medicine. This involves students, with faculty support, evaluating colleges in the area of planetary health. This initial inventory allowed us to identify action items for the future.
